Edmed is set to once again steer the Australian national team in the fly-half role when they face England, while Carter Gordon's eagerly awaited comeback to test rugby is on hold.
Gordon, that previously played for Australia at the most recent World Cup before making a surprise switch to league to sign with the Titans, has secured a release from his NRL deal to link up with the Wallabies on tour.
But, Gordon is believed to be continuing to battle a quadriceps injury picked up during practice recently and will not feature from the team looking to achieve consecutive wins against England at Twickenham for the first time in 16 years.
Wallabies Face Player Availability Challenges
Australia is lacking depth, hindered by the inability to select key overseas-based players including their English-based Player of the Year Len Ikitau, Hooper, and O'Connor, whereas the home team boast a full-strength lineup.
This has prompted criticism that the Australian team's effort to move up the World Rugby rankings before December's draw for the hosted 2027 World Cup has been unfairly impacted, as the English can field each of their domestic league players.
Coach Schmidt Stays Optimistic
But, Australia coach Joe Schmidt, fresh from overseeing a hard-fought win against the Japanese team with a largely second-string squad, remains confident he has a winning side at his disposal, with several key players back to the lineup.
"The coaches have sought to balance this season's demanding schedule in terms of Test matches and travel commitments, so it was beneficial to freshen a number of players up last week and we hope that allows the group to be highly strong on the weekend," said the coach.
