Per new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” Maxwell with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for executive mercy.

The exact content of the clemency request remain unknown, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the warden has individually organized private meetings for her and her visitors.

These meetings allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which Raskin described as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and chance of unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, Maxwell was provided directions about instructing her contacts to contact and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she “essentially used” the warden as her private aide.

The news release indicates that those writing to her would send files directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the warden to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative added.

Recent Background

Recently, reports surfaced that Maxwell told close associates in electronic messages that she was more content at the Texas facility than her former location.

This past summer, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's private attorney.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own connections to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the president to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” the representative stated in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

Raskin requested that the official appear for a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether Trump had discussed a possible clemency for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, family or representatives have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court declined to hear an appeal from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
